THE 102nd ISSA GraceKennedy National high schools’ athletics championships will start a day earlier this year with two events being run on Tuesday, a day before the regular start of the annual event.

George Forbes, Competition Coordinator for ISSA, told the Observer this morning that following complaints from coaches the preliminary rounds of the steeplechase open for both boys and girls will be run Tuesday at 6:00 pm.

He said coaches had expressed concerns that the running of the first rounds of the steeplechase that was introduced last year, was too close to the 1500m and as such the Champs organising committee had taken the decision to move the first round of the steeplechase forward.

Additionally he said there would be slight changes to at least one other event but said the overall schedule would not be radically altered.
