LONDON, England - Comments from the USA track and field head coach Andrew VALMON (USA) after the men's 4x100m relay final at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

Andrew VALMON (USA)

On his feelings over the USA's 4x100m relay performance:

"The US would have beaten the world record. They really ran fast. We asked everyone to check their egos at the door and every one of those guys had to sit down and say, 'I will do this for my country.'"

On Jamaica's world record time:

"36 seconds is 36 seconds. If you run 36 seconds, then you deserve to win. If you look back on the film, we are close."

On how he improved the track team's handovers:

"We worked hard on them. We needed to bring back the fundamentals of the relay. We looked at putting people in positions where they were successful, and we have closed the gap."

On his feelings over the USA's overall track and field performance:

"We were competitive in everything. When we look back at it all, we are where we need to be."
