FALMOUTH, Trelawny — With no chance of making it to the mid-season final of the Jamaica Football Federation Captain's Bakery and Grill/Charley's JB Rum Western Confederation Super League, Village United and Duanvale's focus will be to get out of the relegation zone when they meet today at the Elliston Wakeland Centre, starting at 3:00 pm.

Village United, the former champions and Premier League contenders, are in 10th place in the 12-team standing on six points and are two places and two points better than fellow Trelawny club Duanvale FC.

Both teams are in a prolonged losing slump, having won one game each and are the only teams to have allowed more than 20 goals each, combing for 46 conceded.

Three more games will be played tomorrow and two more Tuesday in the 10th and penultimate set of matches in the first round, as the race for the mid-season final heats up.

Leaders Reno FC on 22 points and second-placed Sandals White House on 18 points will face tough oppositions in Savannah SC and Holland United, respectively, as they continue their rush for a place in the February 9 final.

Reno will face Savannah for the first time and while on paper they will be the visiting team, they have not lost at Frome in two seasons, a stretch of 11 matches.

Savannah SC have not lost at Frome in five games played there this season after shifting the home grounds from Truro, where they played in the 2011-12 season on their way to the title.

Sandals White House will put a five-game win streak on the line when they play away to a Holland team that has dropped their last two games by a combined 5-1 after going unbeaten in the first seven games. They have fallen precipitously from second to sixth place in just two games.

Holland have added the prolific scorer Rushane Reid to their line-up that had scored 14 goals in their first seven games and hope it will start bearing fruits against one of the better defences in the league on Sunday.
