Belmont crush Gregory Park by 174 runs

An all-round team performance by Belmont CC defeat Gregory Park CC by 174 runs in the feature match at Portsmouth during their Zone B encounter in the 2013 Wray & Nephew/Portmore Cricket Association Club T/20 Championship on Sunday.

Scores: Belmont 210-9(20 overs); Gregory Park 36 all out (13.4 overs).

Sent in to bat, Belmont posted a challenging total of 210-9 from their allotted 20 overs, with Roshane Bird top-scoring with a patient half-century of 54(40), which included five fours and two sixes. Andre Henry then smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground on his way to 47(29) when he was trapped in front by Sanjay Muir attempting a slog sweep. He struck eight fours and alone six, Ricardo Ennis then chipped in with a 20-ball 47 not out that carried the visitors to their massive total.

Courtney Shakespeare took 3-23 from four overs, while Jason Findlay captured 3-28 from his four overs for Gregory Park.

In reply, Gregory Park got off to a terrible start losing openers Robert Martin (four) and Kaydon Brown (five) at 14-2. Captain Ruddy Allen (seven) and Jason Findlay (two) then added seven runs for the fourth-wicket when Findlay was superbly bowled at 21-3.

Damion Jacobs finished with four for 13 from four overs, Darron Royal supported with three for six and Damion Huburn with 3-10 for Belmont.

In the curtain-raiser, Portsmouth CC trashed Silver Stone by seven wickets. Silver Stone posted 49 all out from 11 overs with Grag Dawkins (16) the only batsman to reach double figures against Gary Brooks (4-13-5), Malcolm Whyte (4-16-4) and Carlos green (1-1-3).

Scores: Sliver Stone (49-all out from 11 overs); Portsmouth (52-3 from 8.1 overs)

In other Zone B matches, Ken's Wildflower defeated Colours International by 10 wickets at Bridgeport.

Scores: Colours International 80 all out from 13.4 overs (John Ross Campbell 31, Tamar Lambert 3-20); Ken's Wildflower 81-0 from 5.2 overs (Glen Wellington 64).

At the same venue, Washington CC defeated Bridgeview by three wickets.

Scores: Bridgeview 94-5 from 15 overs (Nkrumah Bonner 39, Bereston Reid 17, Ronville Brown 3-10); Washington CC 97-7 from 14.2 overs (Craigian Malcolm 30, Andre Russell 3-9).
