STETHS take U-16 cricket title

SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) defeated urban champions Excelsior High by an innings and 50 runs to take the ISSA/Grace Under-16 trophy following the two-day final, Thursday and Friday at the STETHS Sports Complex here.

Scores: STETHS 202 all out; Excelsior 84 and 68.

Javoy Spence, 76, and captain Michael Frue, 64, led the batting for STETHS while Excelsior's Orande Pearson took 7-73.

STETHS' left-arm orthodox spinner, Lenardo Salmon, then grabbed six wickets for 18 runs to destroy the Excelsior first innings. Asked to follow on, Excelsior fared little better to hand the home side an easy win.
