Waterford brush aside Reid's Pen by three wickets
MARVIN Lobban (44 runs) and Shamar Anderson (22) helped newcomers Waterford defeat Reid's Pen by three wickets in their Zone A encounter at Bridgeport in the 2013 Wray & Nephew/Portmore Cricket Club Championship on Sunday.

Batting first in a game reduced to 18 overs, Waterford amassed 130-7, and Lobban led the way with a run-a-ball top-score of 44. His knock included six boundaries, while Anderson blasted 22 not out against Dennis Bulli (3-24) and Shaun Bennett (1-12).
In reply, Reid's Pen started the chase strongly but were restricted to 127-9 from their 18 overs. Bulli led the chase with a superb 25-ball 43. He struck five fours and a lone six, Alvin Lobban chipped in with 24 but could not stop their team from falling short of
Zamar Sinclair (2-6) and Richard Allen (2-19) were Waterford's best bowlers.
In the curtain-raiser, Greater Portmore beat Passage Ford by five wickets. Passage Fort posted 108-7 from their allotted 18 overs, thanks to Marlon Scott (19) and Kemar Taylor (17) against Morris Wheatley (2-12).
A well-played half-century from Gerald Laing ensured Greater Portmore surpass their target well inside 15 overs, reaching 114-5 (14.2). Laing struck 53 from 32 balls that included five fours and four sixes.
Andre Flower took 3-19 for Passage Fort.

Elsewhere in Zone A, GC Foster defeated Portmore Pines by eight wickets at Portsmouth. Scores: Portmore Pines (101-5 from 20 overs); GC Foster (102-2 from 17.4 overs).
At the same venue, Hamilton Gardens defeated Braeton Red Caps By four wickets. Scores: Braeton Red Caps (115-6 from 20 overs); Hamiltonn Gardens (116-6 from 19.4 overs).
Meanwhile, in Zone B Bridgeview crushed Gregory Park CC by 209 runs at Bridgeport on Saturday. Brian Wright scored the first century of the tournament with a superb 112 from a mere 60 deliveries that included seven fours and 11 sixes. Scores: Bridgeview (254-4 from 20 overs); Gregory Park CC (45-all out from 11.3 overs).
At the same venue, Ken's Wildflower defeated Sliver Stone by 86 runs. Scores: Ken's Wildflower (186-4 from 20 overs); Sliver Stone (100-all out from 20 overs).
In other Zone B matches, Colour's International brushed aside Washington by 17 runs in a low-scoring game at GC Foster College. Scores: Colour's International (79-all out from 19 overs); Washington (62-9 from 20 overs).
The second match between Belmont and Portsmouth was rained out.
