FORMER many-time champions Scotiabank 'A' defeated Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) 53-38 as the 2017 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Senior 'A' and 'B' Leagues continued at the Leila Robinson Courts last Saturday.

It was the second consecutive win for the Winston Nevers-coached Scotiabank aggregation from as many starts, while the loss was the first for Sasha-Gaye Henry-coached ATL team, also from two starts.

It was a much more improved performance from ATL, who were soundly beaten 44-16 by Scotiabank 'A' in the Open League final two weeks ago.

ATL through shooters Shenova Edwards and Shian Gonzales played extremely well in the first quarter and surprised by leading 11-10 at the break.

However, ATL did not maintain their first quarter form as Scotiabank 'A' took control from centre court plays that gave shooters Tennisha Bernard and Shadian Hemming scoring opportunities. The bankers outscored their opponents to take a 25-17 lead at half-time.

The experienced Scotiabank 'A' took complete charge of the match in the third quarter. The winners through shooters Bernard and Hemmings outscored their opponents 14-9 to go into the final break leading 39-26.

ATL's play improved in the fourth and final quarter despite trailing by a wide margin. ATL scored 12 goals to Scotiabank's 14 goals before losing 53-38 goals.

For Scotiabank 'A', Bernard scored 30 goals from 40 attempts, and Hemmings added 23 goals from 33 efforts, while for ATL, Gonzales scored 21 goals from 25 attempts and Edwards assisted 17 goals from 28 efforts.

Meanwhile, in another Senior League match, Jamaica National (JN) defeated Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) 36-29. Scoring for JN were Rebekah Robinson with 29 goals from 40 attempts, while for BOJ, Abbyon Mitchell got 16 goals from 32 attempts, and Reisha Collins added 13 from 26 efforts.

Result of Intermediate 'A' League: National Housing Trust (NHT) 'A' defeated Cari-Med Limited in a high-scoring game 52-42.

Score in the Intermediate 'B' League, Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ) crushed Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) 42-10.

Sagicor Life 'B' defeated Educom Credit Union 34-8; AEROTEL/JCAA beat Maritime 37-17 in Junior League action.
