JOCKEY Osive Donegal returned to the winners' enclosure for his 15th win in his career on Saturday after piloting the Casbert Khwalsingh-trained Traditionalmedicin to victory over the five-furlong (1,000m) straight course.

Running among Restricted Allowance V (NB) five-year-olds and upwards (NW2) for the sixth time since releasing his maiden tag, Traditionalmedicin proved a handful for Donegal who had to steady the wayward course of the five-year-old bay mare to keep from running into rivals as a 5-1 betting option.

Traditionalmedicin registered a 3 length win ahead of the 4/5 favourite Ray Star ridden by Shane Ellis. Instagram held on for third place.

Donegal has been on board Traditionalmedicin the two times she has won thus far.

“It was a type of win which thoroughly pleased me. This is a very technical horse to ride, she is a difficult ride and you have to know how to ride her. You have to know her to get the best out of her,” Donegal shared.

Donegal was out of racing for some time due to an injury that almost ended his career. He has now recovered sufficiently while informing that he will continue to work hard as he wants make to make use of opportunities given to him.

“Racing is a tough sport and I continue to work hard. I am at the track seven days a week, working and living with the hope that something will break so that I can get more winners when the time comes. As I continue to work, I will be in the slipstream to benefit. So, all I need to do is to continue working.

“To get winners is hard and as I said before, I just have to continue working because it is a sport that I love, and as long as racing is around it is a profession that I will devote my time to,” Donegal said.
