WITH the Cash Pot 'Only One For Me' Trophy race just around the corner, the Philip Feanny-conditioned Trevor's Choice signalled a possible competitive participation after a decisive win on Wednesday last (September 12, 2018).

The Cash Pot Only One For Me Trophy, which is the first leg in the Supreme Ventures Limited-sponsored two-year-old Triple Crown series, is set for September 29 and is to be contested over six furlongs (1,200m).

Trevor's Choice came on the scene with a bold, front-running effort to win the maiden special weight event for native-bred two-year-olds over four furlongs (800m) straight.

Under the guidance of Gary Richards, Trevor's Choice broke on top and stayed with the field for the first half of the quick dash.

Entering the final furlong and a half (300m) Trevor's Choice began to draw away, winning by two lengths.

Tricky One (Dick Cardenas), who seemed to have issues with the sloppy racing conditions, came through for second money with Just Trick Me (Wesley Henry) third. The final time was 46.1.

Speaking after the win, breeder and owner Trevor Dunkley Sr said he was pleased with his charge's performance and that he is already looking ahead to the Cash Pot Only One For Me Trophy.

“Great. I mean it was an excellent performance by Trevor's Choice to get the job done the first time of asking. It was a good run and I am happy about it.

“From he was a baby, we all knew that he was a good horse. I am already looking forward to the two-year-old races. If all goes well in terms of staying fit and healthy and without injury, Trevor's Choice is going to be competitive,” he said.
