Where are the rest?

November 26, 2016 was a wet day, and the underfoot conditions at the racetrack for the Pick-3 Challenge Trophy were sloppy, yet the brilliance of She's A Maneater warmed up the proceedings and revealed the talent of the then emerging two-year-old filly.

She's A Maneater had given indications of her racing prowess a month earlier in the Cash Pot 'Only One For Me' Trophy, which was her second career start.

In the Pick-3 Challenge Trophy (the second race in the Supreme Ventures Two-Year-Old Triple Crown Series), She's A Maneater (Omar Walker) romped home by six lengths, defeating Sotomayor, with Lady Faye (Anthony Thomas) a neck behind ( Sotomayor) in third place. Henry The Second was fourth.

After her spectacular win in the Pick-3 (seven furlongs - 1,400m), She's A Maneater then moved on to the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes (0ne mile – 1,600m) where she tasted defeat for the first time. To date, after going on at three to win the much-vaunted Triple Crown (Guineas, Derby, St Leger) and the Superstakes, that defeat at the hooves of Sotomayor remains her only career blemish.

Sotomayor was then crowned champion two-year-old, but has not won a race in his three-year-old career thus far. He figured prominently in the Classic races but has been plagued by injuries and may not race for the rest of this year.

Lady Faye, who was third in the Pick-3 , has shown mediocre form since November 26, 2016, and has not featured in any of the three-year-old Classic races.

Henry The Second had a troubled racing career. Endowed with a lot of talent, Henry The Second showed his class and potential when he went past the post in the Lotto Classic run for the Governor's Cup in first position, only to lose the race in the stewards' room.

Henry The Second's attempt in the Derby highlighted the problems he had with multiple injuries, which eventually brought a sad end to his further participation on the track.

Of the others in the Pick-3 Challenge Trophy race in 2016, Money Magnet, Mr Universe, Very Classic and Armageddon have all done precious little to excite fans on the racetrack since then.

The 2016 Pick-3 Challenge Trophy will be remembered for She's A Maneater and her continued development as one of our best ever fillies to race at Caymanas Park.

The 2017 version of the Pick-9 Challenge Trophy, with the likes of Patriarch, Another Vigorous and Commander Two, is already shaping up to be quite a cracker.
