As the first race in the Supreme Ventures Limited-sponsored Two-Year-Old 'Triple Crown' series gets closer — the Cash Pot 'Only One For Me' Trophy — trainer Anthony Nunes appears to have a very strong hand. The race will be run over six furlongs (1,200m) next week Saturday (October 14) at Caymanas Park.

The in-form trainer has three runners nominated to participate in the race in search of that $1 million bonus for the horse that wins all three legs in the series. Nunes has colt Patriarch and fillies Nadeshico and Necromancer, with Patriarch seemingly being the most promising of the lot.

Having never won this leg in the series, Nunes hopes to break that spell with his three-pronged attack.

Patriarch made his debut on September 16 over the five-furlong (1,000m) straight course. Ridden by Dick Cardenas, Patriarch (Casual Trick – Electrifying) trounced his rivals by 10 lengths in an impressive 58.3 seconds after setting splits of 22.3 and 45.3 seconds. This was after the bay colt got injured in the starting gates prior to the race.

“Well, so far so good for Patriarch. I mean, he has been working [in the mornings] fairly nicely, but he has a couple more gallops before the race.

“He has a tough horse to beat in Another Vigorous, who ran 1:05.4 on debut over five-and-a-half furlongs (1,100m). Another Vigorous is a really nice colt, and so he's the one we all have to beat in the Cash Pot 'Only One For Me' Trophy,” Nunes told the Supreme Racing Guide.

Nadeshico leads the trio in terms of wins, having two victories under her belt so far. Her latest win came in the 17th running of the $950,000 Terremoto Trophy on September 2. With Wesley Henry astride, Nadeshico made one move to win by two lengths in the five-furlong (1,000m) event on the round in a time of 1:01.0 with splits of 23.3 and 47.3 seconds.

Stable companion Necromancer won the Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited Juvenile Stakes over three furlongs (600m) on June 24. Ridden by Wesley Henry, Necromancer (Casual Trick – Eighteen Karat) won by two-and-a-half lengths in a decent 35.1 seconds for the distance.

Nadeshico and Necromancer will be there [Cash Pot 'Only One For Me' Trophy]. They have been training good as well, and once they are fine they will be there,” declared Nunes.
