ISSA agrees schoolboy football deal with SportsMax

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

International Media Content Ltd (IMC), parent company of regional sports cable channel SportsMax, announced yesterday an agreement with the Inter-Secondary School Sports Association (ISSA) for the exclusive international broadcast rights and licence for live and delayed television broadcast of the Manning Cup and daCosta Cup schoolboy football matches from 2011 through 2013.

This will include full match airings plus a SportsMax-produced highlights package each week.

IMC's broadcast rights extend to all territories worldwide, with the television coverage to be shown regionally to 25 Caribbean countries on SportsMax and then into North America within the next few weeks.

Oliver McIntosh, general manager of IMC and SportsMax CEO, explains: "IMC has been instrumental in ensuring that local and international coverage of Jamaica's football continues to receive unprecedented international exposure. This is another big step for IMC as we work with ISSA to showcase the depth of talent in high school football and for SportsMax in maintaining our position as the leading provider of regional sports content in the Caribbean, as well as extending our football into the North American market for the Diaspora."

President of ISSA, Dr Walton Small concurs. "We see this as an extension of IMC's commitment to increasing the exposure of Jamaica's secondary school sports." He continued: "We had an agreement in place for the Boys' and Girls' Athletic Championship which saw IMC streaming Champs to 53,319 total unique viewers from 127 countries over four days creating a streaming record for the entire Caribbean in March. This will inevitably benefit us in the promotional development of Jamaica's youth through sports for years to come."

SportsMax will broadcast one match per week on Saturdays, as well as broadcasting the new SportsMax High School Football Weekly programme on Sundays.
