Petrojam sweep KSA Business House awards

Defending champions Petrojam were the toast of the 2011 Kingston and St Andrew Business House Football Association awards presentation at the Red Stripe Sports Club last Monday, copping seven awards.
Meanwhile, veteran Constant Spring Football Club chairman and technical director Muarice 'Danny' Lyn was also honoured with the Abe Alexander Memorial Award for his outstanding coaching and administrative service to football in Jamaica, which started in 1979. Lyn has led Constant Spring to the KSAFA Jackie Bell Knock Out titles, the KSAFA Major League titles, the A league football title and a losing finalist in the National Premier League in 1995 against Reno. He was also the coach of the Jamaica National Beach Football Team in 2004.
Division One champion Petrojam, who defeated NWC 2-0 in the final, also won the Pronto Mix Five-A-Side one day rally, the Challenge trophy which is contested between the knockout and Division One and Two champions. They defeated Gleaner Company 3-2 in the final.
They also made the association proud by winning the Champion of Champion Trophy, which was contested by the St Ann's Business House Football champions, NWC and the KSA Business House champion. Other awardees were Andrew Palmer, the final MVP for Division One; coach Raymond Quallo and manager Robert Blake, manager and coach of the year, respectively.
Girvon Brown of Wisynco was the Division One leading goal scorer with nine goals. Returning team Jamaica Customs won the Division two title by defeating NHT 2-1 in the final and Terrence Allen of Jamaica Customs won the MVP final award. Tryone Crossfield of Red Stripe was the leading goal scorer in Division Two with 10 goals.
Gleaner Company won the Scotiabank Group-sponsored knockout competition by defeating Scotiabank Group 4-3 on penalties and goalkeeper Everdean Scarlett was the final MVP.
Richard West of Scotiabank Group and Locksley Thompson of Gleaner Company were the joint leading goal scorers for the KO competition with four goals each. Scotiabank Group also won the Dress Parade/Most Prepared Team Award. Wray and Nephew won the fair play award for being the most disciplined team, while former executive and manager of the NHT football team, Karen Bogle was recognised for her 10 years as a manager and service to the BHFA from 2001-2011.
Kevin Thomas and Damion Williams were the referee and assistant referee for the 2011 season. Individual awardees were given gift vouchers from sponsors Western Sports Limited. Guest speaker was Leon Mitchell, Assistant General Manager, Marketing, Promotions and Sales for Jamaica National Building Society, while Marcia Kitson-Walters of Seprod Limited, Carl Chang of Western Sports and Monique Todd of Scotiabank Group represented the sponsors.
