Player Profile - Keammar Daley
Friday, April 15, 2011
AT 23 years old, Tivoli Gardens midfielder Keammar Daley has already carved out a solid reputation for himself as one of the most skillful players within the local shores, with his silky and penetrating style of play, earning him rave reviews from all quarters.
In fact, Daley, now a fixture in the national senior team, has been strutting his stuff for some time now and was quickly identified, from as way back as during his years as a schoolboy prodigy at Jamaica College ( JC), as a keen talent and one to watch for the future.
His protagonist role in JC's 2006 Manning Cup triumph was a true sign of things to come for the fledgling 'boy wonder'.
The diminutive talisman has already represented Jamaica at all levels and is seen by some as the natural heir to the still unfilled void left by former Reggae Boy maestro and current head coach Theodore Whitmore -- a comparison drawn because of his almost nonchalant yet devastating wizardry with the football at his feet and his impressive vision.
Daley was also a crucial member of last year's Caribbean Cup-winning senior team and let us not forget that it was his four goals that helped to power the country to an historic silver medal finish at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The soft-spoken Daley was developed under the tutelage of the late David Hunt at Meadhaven United, where he bagged 12 goals in top-flight football in the 2008-2009 en route to copping the Young Player of the Year Award and the National Under-21 League Player of the Year prize.
The youngster, who has unfortunately had some injury issues this season, has nonetheless found the back of the net on no less than 10 occasions and will be hoping to put his skills to good use this year, as his team hunts glory in the Flow Champions Cup.
