Seaview collect Syd Bartlett trophy
BY LIVINGSTON SCOTT Observer staff reporter

IT was all smiles at the Seaview Football field last Sunday as the Claro/KSAFA Syd Bartlett champions were presented with the trophy by KSAFA president Rudolph Speid in a brief ceremony.
The club was up in arms last week following their victory over Meadforest on Tuesday in a rescheduled game that confirmed their triumph. But the club became disgruntled when no representative from KSAFA showed up to acknowledge their success.
However, the two parties buried the hatchet and club president, Earl Pinto, thought it was a fitting end to their season.
"It was worth the while waiting, although our objective was to get the trophy at the end of the match, but it came the right time because it's a Sunday and the community came out to see," he said.
Speid said he understood the club's disappointment at not receiving the trophy last Tuesday, but insisted the decision was an administrative one.
"They may have been a little disappointed because they wanted the trophy... but I think we did the right thing to wait, and I think we made up for that today...," he said.
Meanwhile, female coach Tamara Williams said winning the Syd Bartlett trophy has presented a positive light for the war-torn community, adding that this will go a long way in mending some broken fences.
She also believes the club will build on what it has accomplished this season and represent itself proudly in the Super League.
"We just need to step up in one or two areas because we already have a good core of players to work with... but our expectation is very positive," she said.
Rosemary Pindling, a vibrant club executive, concluded that Sunday's ceremony made up for Tuesday's disappointment.
"Mr Speid says the season finishes today (Sunday) and the presentation is today (Sunday), so we go with what he says. But everybody here is glad to see this and it means a lot to the community and I hope next season we'll go further," she said.
