All-Stars hunt 15th-straight win against Saints in

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Defending champions and leaders Catherine Hall All-Stars will go after their 15th-straight win this afternoon when they take on third-placed Holland Saints in the second game of a Western Basketball Association (WBA) Elite Basketball League (EBL) at the Montego Bay Cricket Club, set to start at 7:00 pm.Catherine Hall are coming off a 69-46 win over Muschett Falcons on Thursday, their second win over the promoted team after beating them 86-52 on the opening day of the season in mid-March. In the first game today, former champions and second-placed Granville Jaguars will face Inner City Avalanche starting at 5:15 pm, and will see a second win after just edging them 57-56 in their earlier meeting.

Catherine Hall lead with 28 points from their 14 previous wins, six points ahead of Granville Jaguars who have played two games fewer, with Holland Saints and Montego Bay Hoopers tied for third on 19 points.

Avalanche and Falcons are next on 16 points each, with Cricket Club Knights and Lucea Flames both on 15 points.

On Thursday, Catherine Hall took advantage of a slow-starting Falcons team and led 20-3 after the first quarter, and were up by 21 points (35-14) at half-time.

Despite an improved showing in the second half, Falcons were blown away by 23 points in a lopsided game.

Kurt and Craig Dorman both scored 18 points and Kurt also had 22 rebounds and three blocked shots, while Craig had 16 rebounds.

Dwayne Johns also had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as well as seven assists, and Jermaine Rerrie scored six points and had 14 rebounds.

Michael Tomlinson and Jermaine Alwood both scored 10 points each for Muschett Falcons, Lamon Thompson scored seven points and had 13 rebounds, and Djair Bulgin scored seven points and had 11 rebounds.

In the other game, Omroy Kerr scored 17 points and Lemar Mitchell scored 15 for MoBay Cricket Club Knights in their comfortable, 73-48 win over Lucea Flames.

Jhaun Bryan also scored eight points and had 11 rebounds, while Mark Wright got 10 rebounds.

Sherwin Gilzine scored 10 points and had nine rebounds to lead Lucea, while three players got six points each.
