CAMPERDOWN High and Wolmer's Boys' advanced to the quarter-finals of the ISSA Digicel Manning Cup with contrasting wins over Excelsior High and Denham Town respectively, at Stadium East field yesterday.

Camperdown lost their second-leg tie 0-1, and with the match levelled on aggregate 1-1 they emerged 4-2 victors in penalty kicks over Excelsior High. Wolmer's leading 1-0 from the first leg brushed aside Denham Town 3-1 for a 4-1 aggregate win.

Camperdown and Wolmer's Boys' are also through to the ISSA All-Island Champions knockout tournament, while Excelsior and Denham Town will contest the Corporate Area Walker Cup knockout competition.

In the curtain-raiser, Camperdown started the day with a 1-0 advantage but were put on the back foot by the fast-starting Excelsior, desperate for a goal to cancel out the one-goal deficit and set the stage for an exciting encounter.

But after dominating it took until the 71st minute for them to get their reward. A free kick by Javone Francis was blocked by Camperdown's goalkeeper Daniel-Prince Smith, but Damorney Hutchinson was quickest to the rebound and slotted home.

With no extra time it was straight to penalties, and Camperdown kept their composure better and emerged victorious.

Basil Trelevan, Jeovanni Laing, Altiman Gordon and Jordon Parnell all scored for Camperdown with Shawn Daley missing the second spot kick, while Rohan Beadle and Kareem Williams netted for Excelsior as Javone Francis and Tajhay Williams missed.

In the second encounter Wolmer's saw off Denham Town fairly easily, winning 3-1 on the day and 4-1 on aggregate.

Rivaldo Mitchell (18th minute), Dwayne Allen (50th) and Nickache Murray (80th) minutes propelled Wolmer's Boys' in the next round. Jermaine Lyons replied for Denham Town in minute 45.

Meanwhile, the competition continues today with six matches across three venues. Of note, the STATHS-Hydel and Holy Trinity-St Jago games scheduled to be played at Winchester Park will now be played at Calabar High at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, respectively. At Stadium East field, defending champions Jamaica College tackle Calabar High at 1:00 pm, already leading 3-0 from the first leg, before Kingston College play Cumberland High with a 3-1 advantage.

Former champions St George's College hold a 4-1 advantage over Mona High and will be in action again at 1:00 pm at Spanish Town Prison Oval, while at 3:00 pm St Catherine enter their game against Charlie Smith leading 3-1.
