Munro College, Cornwall set up KO showdown
FOOTBALL -- Ben Francis
David Satchwell
Thursday, November 20, 2003

MUNRO College scored a decisive come from behind 3-1 win over daCosta cup finalists, Frome Technical, while Cornwall College clipped Seaforth High, 2-1, to set up what is likely to be a mouth-watering Ben Francis final.

Rodeino Wright (25th), Wade Wadzworth 76th) and Bilandy Dunkly (83rd) scored for Munro in the feature game at Newtown Community Centre, Black River. Frome's Andra Robinson got his team's lone goal in the seventh.

Frome were gifted their goal when Robinson's clearance from deep inside his half was misjudged by the Munro keeper, under absolutely no pressure. The goalie chased the airborne ball, then backpedalled only to see the ball settling in the net.

However Munro showed character and equalised with a peach of a goal from a set play, after the skillful Shane McFarlane was brought down outside the 18 yard box. Captain, Oraine Barrett, relayed to Wright, who made no mistake.

The second half produced quality football from both teams, with the Frome frontline getting behind the Munro defence on a number of occasions. Munro meanwhile, got stronger in the middle and on the flanks.

Wadzworth, brought on 15 minutes into the second half, obliged. After receiving a pass on the edge of the 18-yard box, he turned his marker before chipping over an advancing Tristan Sommerville in the Frome goal for a 2-1 lead.

Munro clinched victory when Bilandy Dunkly slotted home Robinson's corner.
