The Jamaica Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (JABBFA) will stage the 2004 National Bodybuilding Championships at the Girl Guides Association Headquarters, 2 Waterloo Road tomorrow.

HYLTON. eager to take the Mr Jamaica title

Pre-judging will take place tomorrow morning at 10:00 and the finals will be at 8:00 pm. Competitors will be vying for the Mr and Miss Jamaica Bodybuilding title.
During pre-judging, competitors will go through their compulsory poses - at least seven for men and five for women.

The poses for men consist of front double biceps, front lats spread, side chest, back double biceps, back lats spread, side tricep, abdominal and thighs, where the judges compare each competitor pose for pose.

For the women, the poses include front double biceps, side chest, back double biceps, side tricep, abdominal and thighs.
Men will compete as lightweight, middleweight, heavyweight and masters (for those 40 years of age and older).
One of the impressive males, Dwayne Hylton of Body by Design Wellness Centre, wants to add the Mr Jamaica 2004 to his name.

Hylton has already won the Novice Mr Jamaica and Junior Mr Jamaica for 2004. He will get competition from Mark McDonald of Spartan Health Club, who was Novice Mr Jamaica and Junior Mr Jamaica in 2000.

Other notable competitors in other categories include Cecil Beacon of Lloyds Home Gym in St Thomas. He wants the middleweight crown, but will have to beat Winston Grant of Pep-up Campion Gym. Grant claims he is tired of taking the runner-up or second runner-up spots.

Defending lightweight champion Shaun Davis gets main competition from Clarence Bernard of Mighty Moves Gym in Montego Bay. Bernard was the 2002 lightweight champion.
In the masters category, Spartan's Michael Johnson, who won last year, will return to defend his crown.

The Miss Jamaica Bodybuilding title also promises to be exciting with Judith Allen of Technofit Wellness Centre saying she will be hard to beat.
The championships have been sponsored by Vigorton 2, Powerade, Pavilion Mall, Supreme Ventures, Malta, Natures Mist Purified Drinking Water, Supligen, Spencer's Tailoring.
