T&T, Windwards win again ... JA rebound

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) - Unbeaten Windward Islands and Trinidad and Tobago both stretched their winning streaks to three games with solid victories in the third round of the CLICO West Indies Under-15 cricket tournament yesterday.

Hosts T&T, aiming for a record fourth championship title in the 10-year-old tournament, got an unbeaten century from Adrian Barath and defeated struggling title-holders Barbados by 58 runs, while the Windwards and Jamaica also posted handsome victories.

At the Pierre Road Recreation Ground in Charlieville, the 14 year-old Barath hit a stroke-filled 134 off 207 balls in 161 minutes, including 11 fours as the home side tallied an imposing 239 for three in the 50 allotted overs.

Man-of-the-match Barath shared in a second-wicket partnership of 130 runs from 187 balls, with all-rounder Yannick Cariah (40).
In reply, Barbados were dismissed for 181 in 49.4 overs although Leslie Reifer Jr top-scored with a swashbuckling innings of 62 from 81 balls that included eight fours and two sixes.

Skipper Kjorn Ottley, with four for 31, was the top bowler for the home team. He was well-supported by Varoun Samaroo, with two for 20, and Kareen Jumadeen, two for 47.
At Chaguanas, the Windward Islands maintained their winning run when they whipped Guyana by six wickets.

Batting first, the Guyanese youngsters were dismissed in the 49th over for 149. Opener Jitendra Sookdeo top-scored with 43, while Dalton Polius (4-20) and Dilorn Johnson (4-35) were the leading bowlers for the Windwards' team.

In reply, Windwards reached their victory target in 48.1 overs, with Kaiman Azzile top-scoring with 43.
Polius won the man-of-the-match award for the third straight game.
At the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Jamaica easily defeated the Leeward Islands by 61 runs.

Jamaica batted first and totalled 194 for six from the allotted 50 overs
with Adrian Morris (33) and Gareth Garvey their chief scorers.
In reply, the Leewards were restricted to 133 for nine, with Patrick Hartey (2-18), Jamie Holness (2-30), and Rajiv Service (2-32), the top bowlers for Jamaica.

The Leewards' Joseph Williams, who took two for 27 and made 27, was named man-of-the-match.
