The Caymanas Golf course will come alive on Sunday with members of Jamaica's 2005 National teams - junior and senior - as they tee off in a Two-Man Stableford event organised by the Fundraising Committee of the Jamaica Golf Association.
The fun event will be played by teams of two, 7/8 individual handicap, in the unusual but interesting categories of Male/Male, Male/Female and Female/Female with starting times ranging from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm.
With the Digicel Independence Classic just one week after, the best local amateurs will be gearing up and pairing up to vie for top honours in this weekend's event. Included in the line-up are this year's Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships (CAGC) team members Maggie Lyn, Jodi Barrow, Lisandra Brown, Michael Gleichman, Damion Spencer, Radcliff Knibbs, Mark Newnham, Fabian Campbell, Lincoln Williams, Herman McDonald and new additions to the team, Maurice Foster and Bruce Lyn.
Lyn replaces Fred Sutherland on the Francis & Steele Perkins senior team, while Foster, who now has the distinction of representing Jamaica internationally in three sports - cricket, table tennis and golf - replaces Dennis Atkinson on the Higgs and Higgs superseniors' team.
Not to be left out, members of this year's Junior team, who recently returned from the Caribbean Junior Champs in the Dominican Republic, will also be competing against their adult counterparts. This includes Jonathan Newnham, Tiffany Terrier and captain Sean Green.
Participants may enter through the Jamaica Golf Association. Proceeds from the event will benefit the CAGC team.
