
NCB cop Business House dress parade

NCB won the dress parade as the 33rd Business House netball season began at the Leila Robinson Courts on Thursday evening. Courts were second and GraceKennedy, third.
Some 45 companies were represented with 47 teams vying for the Digicel Trophy. The second-placed team will cop the Pam Landell Trophy, and third, the Lynette Chin-McDaniel Trophy. Thursday's programme included a presentation by guest speaker Ed Barnes, who spoke about the strength of women and their positive contributions to the society.
Greetings was also brought to the gathering by the new president of the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Marva Bernard. BHNA president Theda King said she was proud to be part of the 33rd anniversary celebrations of providing solid entertainment through netball with an average of 45 companies and over 500 working professionals.
King appealed to the teams to use the sport as a vehicle to achieve their goals. She encouraged players to get involved in coaching and umpiring.
Six new companies have joined the association in Aerotel, FirstCaribbean International Bank, Jamaica Defence Force, Elite Restaurants, Tropicair Maritime and Transport Services. Air Jamaica, Bank of Jamaica, Jamaica Money Market Brokers, and STATIN have rejoined the BHNA.
The other participants are Open League champions General Accident, Azans Super Centre, BNS, Blue Cross, Cable & Wireless, Cool Petroleum (formerly Shell), Continental Foods, Courts, Dept of Corrections, Digicel, GraceKennedy, Guardian Life, Grant Stewart Phillips, Heart Trust, ISSA Transport and Motor Sales, Jamaica Broilers, Jamaica Infrastucture, Wray & Nephew, JPS, JUTC, Kraft Foods Ja, Lascelles, Lasco Foods, NCB, NHT, NWC, NHDC, NEM, Statin, VMBS and Wisynco.
The season began yesterday afternoon with the Open Rally. Teams were competing in eight sections, with the section winners competing for the Crown Packaging Open Rally Trophy and GraceKennedy Trophy.
The Open League starts on Tuesday and includes the Courts consolation competition for teams. The Divisional League begins July 6.
