Hilton strikes gold at CISC championships

Jamaica's Matthew Hilton struck gold at the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships in Puerto Rico yesterday, while Brad Hamilton broke a national age-group record.
In yesterday's preliminary heats, Kendese Nangle smashed the 11-12 50 backstroke record.

Jamaica last night moved up to fifth place behind Puerto Rico (654), Trinidad & Tobago (16), The Bahamas (322.5) and Dominican Republic (170.5) with 125 points.

It was a exciting day for the Jamaican swimmers as Matthew Hilton won gold in 15-17 Boys 200M breaststroke in 2:36.45, edging Harold Rivera (2:39:39) and Francisco Perez (2:39:84) of Puerto Rico.

Hamilton won silver to bring his tally to three medals when he clocked 58.10 to break his own national age-group record (1:00:82) in the 15-17 Boys 100M mutterfly.
Juan Serrano of Puerto Rico was first (57.28) and Vereance Burrows of Bahamas third (58.47).

Dominic Lee placed second in the 18 and over 200M breaststroke (2:32:57) behind Puerto Rican Jose Perez (2:31:93) and ahead of Arturo Montilla of Dominica (2:34.23).
Dominique Dawson won her second medal placing third in the 13-14 Girls 100M butterfly (1:10:13).
Jamaica's medal tally stands at three gold, two silver and six bronze bringing the total so far to 11.
