Titchfield face Paul Bogle with eye on Inter-Zone

MONTEGO BAY - Two-time finalists Titchfield High will seek to strengthen their vice-like grip on Zone L of the daCosta Cup this afternoon when they take on Paul Bogle High at Carder Park in the lone scheduled match.

While the Andrew Edwards-coached Titchfield cannot confirm their place in the Inter-Zone round this afternoon, they could move to within a point of that milestone. The result of the Port Antonio-Happy Grove game at the same venue tomorrow could, however, decide the two qualifying spots.

Five schools are still in with mathematical chances of taking the two qualifying spots as Titchfield lead with 27 points - four more than Port Antonio (23), followed by St Thomas Technical (22), Happy Grove (21) and long shots Fair Prospects (20).

St Thomas missed a golden chance of staying in the top two after losing 2-1 to Fair Prospect on Wednesday. Port Antonio capitalised on the slip-up to leap two places into second after outclassing Yallahs, 4-3.

Titchfield are coming off a 0-0 draw against Happy Grove on Wednesday, their second straight draw and only the second time they had been held scoreless.

National Under-17 representative Dever Orgill, who has eight goals, will lead Titchfield's attack against a Paul Bogle defence that has conceded 44 goals - second only to Maggotty's 47.

Titchfield won the first-round game 2-0 and are expected to attack in preparation for the Inter-Zone round.

Titchfield missed qualifying for the second round last season when the group was split into two due to the number of teams taking part. After a slow start, they never recovered.

Titchfield have never fallen out of the top three in Zone L this season and are one of the favourites to advance.
