Reno............................................2 Scott (45th & 86th) August Town................................1 Shaw (29th)
Ricardo Scott's double strike (45th and 86th minutes) strikes guided Reno to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over a plucky August Town on the grounds of the Frome Sports Complex yesterday and kept their hopes of a spot in the second end-of-round final alive.
Daniel Shaw gave August Town the lead in the 29th minute of the game.
In another game at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, Seba, courtesy of two goals from the penalty spot by Wilfred Smith (36th & 48th minutes), defeated Waterhouse 2-1. Waterhouse's goal was scored by Brian Wollaston in the 42nd minute.
The game at Frome started off at a brisk pace with Reno enjoying the better of the early exchanges. August Town, however, silenced the large Reno following when Everton Palmer, who fumbled a clearance, was robbed of position by a prowling Shaw.
The slim lead injected life into the August Town outfit and they mounted numerous assaults on the Westmoreland-based team's goal, but did not manage to extend their lead. With lest than a minute to go to the break, Scott collected a ball deep inside the August Town half and hustled past a bunch of defenders to register his first and draw his team level.
Both teams went all out for the tie breaker, but Scott turned out to be the hero for the Wendell Downswell-coached side. Aaron Lawrence, a member of the Reno coaching staff, expressed delight at a winning return to the Frome complex. "I think the performance was pleasing and I think the guys fought well and I think the support of the spectators was good," said the former Jamaica goalie.
Losing coach, Hugh McCarthy, said indiscipline play cost his team the game. " I must say that I am upset with the performance of the team," McCarthy rued.
