Mona claim men's hockey title

Mona opened their netball campaign yesterday on day three of the UWI Games, slamming Cave Hill 64-18 at the Mona Bowl.

Led by multi-sport athletes Simone Forbes, Anna-Kay Morris and Oberon Pitterson, Mona showed no mercy. Mona will play St Augustine tomorrow at 5:00 pm.

Meanwhile, Mona men wrapped up the hockey title yesterday when they clipped Cave Hill 3-2, courtesy of goals from Kwame Emmanuel, Orville Hicks and Johann Williams. The hosts defeated St Augustine 1-0 in their opening fixture on Friday.

For the hockey women, Nordia Clare was on target for Mona, who beat St Augustine 1-0 yesterday at the Mona Hockey Field and will seek the clincher tomorrow morning at 10:00 against Cave Hill.

In women's volleyball yesterday, Mona silenced St Augustine 25-11, 25-14, and 25-18.

In swimming action Saturday, for both men and women, Mona triumphed with 201 points, just ahead of St Augustine, 196 points, with Cave Hill finishing with 168 points.

Mona bagged eight gold, 12 silver, and 9 bronze medals for a total of 29 medals. Cave Hill placed second in the medal count, winning 11 gold, four silver and nine bronze, while St Augustine ended with 19 medals, five gold, eight silver and six bronze.

In women's football Saturday, Cave Hill vs Mona match ended goalless.

Other results Saturday, Cave Hill beat Mona 19-25, 25-14, 25-10, 25-12 in men's volleyball, and in women's basketball, Mona crushed St Augustine 101-17 with Anna-Kay Morris top-scoring with 33 points, and Oberon Pitterson contributing 21 points.
