
Saunders, Pyne top Cable & Wireless

Charles Pyne and Nigella Saunders each took a double Sunday night in the Cable & Wireless Senior All Jamaica Badminton Championships at the Constant Spring Golf Club's Racquet Complex.
Saunders brushed off the challenge of Geordine Henry, winning 21-6, 21-5, then teamed with Alya Lewis to defeat Henry and Tracy Morgan 21-18, 21-15, while Pyne had a comfortable 21-12, 21-13 win over young Gareth Henry before partnering Emelio Mendez to a 21-19, 19-21, 21-19 win over Paul Leyow and Neil Abrahams.
In the mixed doubles, Garron Palmer and Tracy Morgan, who had earlier denied Saunders her triple, got the better of the Henry siblings, putting them away in two close games, 22-20, 24-22. The Henrys each made it to three finals.
In the Masters, Joseph Clarke successfully defended his double as after winning the singles, he teamed with Ricardo Teape to take the doubles. Meanwhile, Warren Nelson won the Veterans singles and Michael Richards paired with Eugene Chen for a close doubles win in a marathon three setter.
