SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth - Former champions Reno created some space for themselves in the National Premier League relegation battle yesterday after edging Village United 3-2 in their fourth-round encounter at STETHS.
Ricardo Scott scored twice for Reno, who picked up six valuable points in their last two outings after being awarded points from their unplayed game against Seba last week. Reno's win over Village, who secured their place several rounds ago, boosted their points tally to 43, the same as Arnett Gardens who beat relegated August Town, 2-0.
Ricardo Scott scored in the sixth and 17th minutes before Devron Clarke in the 27th and Ronaldo Scott in the 75th drew Village level. Draion McNain then grabbed the winner in the 77th minute.
Meanwhile, Seba United and St George's wasted numerous opportunities at Jarrett Park after playing to a 0-0 draw and will have to await Sunday's final round to secure their place in the league next season.
Seba are on 42 points and will host Arnett Gardens, while St George's, on 41, and host Reno.
