Unbeaten Kensington poised for Senior Cup semis
Kayon Raynor
Thursday, May 08, 2008

FUELLED by their 100 per cent record of three outright wins, Kensington are on the verge of becoming the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the Jamaica Cricket Association's (JCA's) Senior Cup competition.

The east Kingston-based team, which had the weekend off, lead the Zone 'B' standing with 18 points - four more than closest rivals Portland, who have played four of their six preliminary round matches.

Portland failed to overtake the former Supreme Ventures All Island Champions, despite their being idle, having lost first-innings points to St Catherine in their drawn match at Port Esquivel.

Lucas are third in the group on 13 points following their outright victory over St Thomas at Goodyear.
In Zone 'A', title-holders St Ann with 15 points trail leaders Hanover (16) by one, having beaten GC Foster by an innings and 99 runs at GC Foster.

Despite being second, St Ann are sitting in the driver's seat, having played three matches compared to Hanover's four.
Police occupy third place with 13 points from three games.
The two-day competition continues on Saturday with six matches.

In Zone 'A', St Mary entertain Police at Gray's Inn, St James travel to Jamalco to take on Clarendon, while St Ann welcome Hanover in the top-of-the-table clash.

Zone 'B' action will see Kensington playing away to Portland at Folly Oval, Kingston & St Andrew squaring off against St Catherine at Maxfield Park, and Lucas meeting pointless Boys' Town at Nelson Oval.
