Bravo contributes to Mumbai's win over Royals in IPL
CMC
Thursday, May 08, 2008

MUMBAI, India (CMC) - The West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo contributed to a splendid bowling performance that helped propel Mumbai Indians to an impressive seven-wicket triumph over the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday.

Bravo picked up two wickets as the Royals struggled to 103 all out in 16.2 overs, and Mumbai coasted to victory at 104 for three in the 16th over.

The Indian opener Swapnil Asnodkar (39) and Australian Shane Watson (32) were the only significant scorers for the high-riding Rajasthan Royals. They added 53 for the third wicket.

Bravo bowled Watson and finished the game when he bowled Siddharth Trivedi (1), to end with figures of 2-12 off 2.2 overs.

India's left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra (3-13), South African veteran Shaun Pollock (1-19) and the unheralded Indian pacers Dhaval Kulkarni (2-21) and Rohan Raje (2-19) combined well to stifle Rajasthan's batting effort.

And when Mumbai batted, Yogesh Takawale (27) and Robin Uthappa (34 not out) led the way as they cruised to victory off 15 overs and one ball.

Bravo was dismissed for only one and Abhishek Nayar (12) was with Uthappa when Mumbai achieved their third consecutive victory.

Watson picked up 2-26 off four overs to complete a good all-round performance for the losers.

With the result, Mumbai climbed to fifth place in the standings with six points, and Rajasthan Royals missed the chance to go clear. They share the points lead with Punjab on 10.
