H'View, Reno dominate Women's soccer awards

The top performers for the 2006-07 Women's football season were rewarded at a presentation ceremony at the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) offices yesterday.
Teams and individual awards were presented in the three Sherwin Williams-sponsored competitions, with Harbour View FC, Waterhouse and Reno dominating proceedings.

Waterhouse, who lifted the Premier League title, copped four sectional prizes, but the afternoon belonged to 'A' League champions Reno and the 'Stars of the East' with 13 awards between them.
East Kingston-based Harbour View, who won the Colourscape KO, picked up the Fair Play Award while finishing third in the Premier League and claiming the runners-up spot in the mid-season final.
Nicola Bell of Harbour View was named MVP of the KO contest, while Vin Blaine won the Coach-of-the-Year and Kerise Heywood the Top Goalkeeper award.
Reno, who have been promoted to the next season's top flight after a superb season in the 'A' League, took home seven awards.
The Westmoreland club finished the season unbeaten and captured the double. Reno's champion coach, Junior Stewart, received two individual awards, including Coach-of-the-Year, while Tashika Gordon, with 12 goals, claimed the Top Goalscorer award, as did Tameka Barrett, who was voted Top Goalkeeper.
Other notable awardees were national striker Venecia Reid, who took home the Golden Boot Award for scoring the most goals (14), which propelled Portmore Strikers FC into the final against Waterhouse.
Meanwhile, Barbican FC's Alicia James was elected MVP of the Premier League, while Kerry-Ann Smallwood of St Catherine Upliftment FC did likewise in the 'A' League.
Trelawny Women's FC, Maverley/Hughenden and Arnett Gardens also won awards.
