Manchester parish demonstrated its prowess in youth cricket when Woodlands Primary and New Forrest All Age won their respective finals of the Jamaica National competition at Melbourne Oval on Tuesday.

The winners defeated St Ann opponents to lift the coveted silverwares after surviving the intra- and inter-parish preliminary rounds.

Woodlands won the primary division for the second time by defeating Lime Tree Gardens Primary by five runs. Woodlands batted first and made 93, as Raymon Thomas (3-25) and Nicholas Miller (3-30) led the way with the ball for Lime Tree.

In reply, Lime Tree were bowled out for 88 in the penultimate over, with Shannon Simms (32) top-scoring.

John Hamilton (3-12) and Sashane McDaniel (3-16) were the chief destroyers for Woodlands, who regained the Courtney Walsh Shield after their first triumph in 1995.
An all-round performance from Orane Nembhard, who hit 45 not out and claimed 3-15, guided New Forrest to a comfortable 72-run win over Discovery Bay All Age.

Defending champions New Forrest posted 175 all out with Nembhard top-soring against Adrian Williams (3-39) and Rohan McKenzie (3-38).

Discovery Bay struggled in their reply and despite a last-ditch effort from hard-hitting No 7 batsman Anthony Edwards, who smashed 47, the boys from the Garden Parish were dismissed for 103 - with Nembhard doing the early damage before Tremaine Smith (3-5) ran through the tail.

New Forrest were winning the All Age title for the fourth time.
