LYNCH PARK, Portland - Sporting Central Academy held St George's to a 1-1 draw at Lynch Park in there Digicel Premier League game yesterday at Lynch Park, Buff Bay.

Sporting Central's Hughan Gray opened the scoring in the 10th minutes, while three minutes later Denroy Dennis replied for St George's.

Sporting Central held the early advantage through Donovan Peart, Alanzo Adlam, Gray and Christopher Banner, but Keon Clunis, Ricardo Taylor and Omar Davis kept them at bay.

Sporting Central went ahead when Marlon Allen's long pass from the left back beat the St George's defence for Gray to fire past a retreating Ralston Robinson, in goal.

The home side responded immediately when Dwayne Holmes' long pass to Damion Harwood was flicked on to Dennis, who headed past Demetro Brown.

The second half saw a more organised Sporting Central Academy taking control but they failed to capitalise, while the home side was denied on two occasions by Brown.

Sporting Central's coach Christopher Dawes was pleased with the point. "We deserve the point although we could have gone away with three points. We are satisfied with the point as we gave up a soft goal that is plaguing us all season. We have to try and correct giving up early goals in the first half."

Geoffrey Maxwell, Dawes' opposite number, was disappointed. "I was very disappointed with the output of the players because the intention was to win this game. Sporting Central controlled the middle, we could penetrate a lot through it, we got a few chances in the first half and we didn't put them away and this is what football is all about. Today was our worst game so far as our passing and control were off."
