In the battle of the heavyweights, Manchester resumed yesterday's play on 308-9 before adding another 10 runs to close their innings on 318 all out. An enterprising innings from Maurice Kepple who battled to 77 runs along with other valuable contributions coming from middle order batsman Courtney Allen (66) and Dennis Fowler (51) set the tone for the Lions.

In yesterday's action, teenage all-rounder Sheldon Powell grabbed 3-11, while Krishmar Santokie claimed 2-28 to limit the defending champions to 169 all out with Shacoya Thomas (44 not out) and Andre Russell (30) providing resistance. Deciding to bat a second time, Manchester were bundled out for 63 runs with Odean Brown (5-21) and Devon Brown (5-27) running riot.

St Catherine were left with 14 overs to try and score 214 runs in order to secure a win, but could only manage 105-1 at the end of play with Russell (48 not out) again featuring among the runs.

At Sabina Park, host Kingston Tigers completed an innings and 12 runs victory over the Hanover Dolphins who could only manage 177 runs in reply to the Tigers' first-innings tally of 304 all out. Pro player Kurt Wilkinson made 58 runs, while Ziggy Levy ended with 55 runs. Paul Harrison notched 4-77 to lead the Kingston attack while skipper Rawl Lewis closed with 2-21.

Batting a second time, the Dolphins made 115-9 with Ziggy Levy retiring hurt on 10 runs. Chan Wakefield scored 42 runs while Bruce Blackwell added another 34 runs in a losing effort. Pacer Boris Hutchinson grabbed 3-27, while Lewis returned to claim 3-33 for the Tigers.

The match between the St Elizabeth Warriors and the Westmoreland Wizards ended in a draw with the Warriors claiming first-innings points.

The Warriors declared on 203-9 after starting the day at 18-0 with Howard Powell slamming a boundary-laden 68 runs and Ishmael Parchment scoring 54 runs. Crafton Clarke took 5-49 to end with match figures of 8-78.

Nickoy Samuels top-scored for the Wizards with 52 runs, while he received support from Derval Green who hit a quickfire 36 inclusive of seven fours.
