Sunday, July 05, 2009
Communities across the island are set to be abuzz with excitement as the SDC National Community Cricket continues this weekend in all parishes except St Thomas.
Action resumes in Manchester following the recent outbreak of the Influenza A (H1N1) virus, popularly known as Swine Flu.
A full slate of matches is on in the central parish, home of defending champions South Stars, who will play Alligator Pond at Swaby's Hope at 2:00 pm.
Hanover is likely the main focus of attention as the quarter-finals playing this Sunday at Elgin Town and Rusea's High.
Last year's parish champions Elgin Town remain on course to represent the parish at the Nationals, but must first overcome Logwood in the main event after Lucea play Great Valley.
The parish of St Thomas is well ahead of schedule and will be idle this weekend.
Today the SDC team will be at Westmoreland Oval, St Mary, with Enfield tackling Rosend at 10:00 am, while Annatto Bay challenge Camberwell at 2:00 pm.
Westmoreland Oval is situated beside the Annotto Bay Hospital.
