Rural champs H'Morrison renew title defence

DEFENDING Junior and Senior League champions Herbert Morrison will resume the defence of their respective titles as the second round of the Digicel/ISSA Rural Area high school netball competition gets under way this morning at 10:30.
In the Junior League, Herbert Morrison face Islington at Buckfield Court (Ocho Rios) at 11:30, while Holmwood Technical meet Charlemont at Clarendon Park at 2:00 pm.
Rita Spence, who is one of two coaches for defending Junior League champs Herbert Morrison, said the team is a little weak and for the early games in the second round it will be tough.
"My team has never ever played Islington before, so I don't know what strategy they use, but we're going out there to win. I have not seen the Group that the players are expected to face in this round," Spence said.
Other matches scheduled among the Juniors are: Manning's vs May Day at STETHS; Bellefield vs Charlemont at Clarendon Park at 10:30; Black River vs Aabuthnott Gallimore at Brook's Park; Edwin Allen vs Port Antonio at The Queen's School at 11:30; Denbigh vs Anchovy at 11:50 at STETHS; STETHS vs Ocho Rios at 12 noon; St Mary High vs Montego Bay at Buckfield Court; Clarendon College vs Titchfield at The Queen's at 1:00; Irwin vs Manchester at STETHS at 1:10; Holmwood vs Guy's Hill at 1:15, and Glenmuir vs Frome Technical at STETHS at 2:40.
Matches scheduled in the Seniors are: Kemp's Hill vs Manning's at STETHS; Belair vs Taicus Golding at Clarendon Park at 11:10; Tacky vs Herbert Morrison at Buckfield Court; Edwin Allen vs Seaforth at The Queen's at 12:10; Denbigh vs Irwin at STETHS; Hampton vs Albert Town at Brook's Park at 12:30; STETHS vs St Hilda's at Clarendon Park at 12:40; St Mary High vs Herbert Morrison at Buckfield Court; Clarendon vs Titchfield at the Queen's at 1:40; Anchovy vs Manchester at STETHS at 2:00, and Frome vs Bishop Gibson at 3:10.
The top two teams from each group in both leagues will qualify for the quarter-finals to be played on a one-match knockout basis.
