Kemar Reid, with three magnificent goals, propelled Hydel High to a comfortable 5-2 win over 10-man Camperdown High in their Group C encounter, in the 2017 Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/FLOW Manning Cup competition at Caymanas Football Field yesterday.

Reid scored in the 17th, 34th and 47th minutes, while Jordane Cameron and Tray McKay got the other goals for Hydel in the 38th and 62nd minutes, respectively.

Rantano Roberts in the 66th minute and Shaquiel Bradford in the 78th minute replied for Camperdown High, who had lost Jamoi Topay in the 49th after receiving a straight red card.

With the victory, Hydel High assumed pole position of the group with maximum nine points from three games, while Camperdown High slipped to third spot on six points, also from three games.

Waterford (six points) moved to second place after blanking the winless St Mary's College (sixth place) 4-0. Fifth-placed Cumberland beat fourth-placed Meadowbrook High 3-1.

Camperdown started the top-of-the-table clash very lively, creating three brilliant goalscoring opportunities but failed to convert any.

These missed chances gave the Hydel team some time to settle and get themselves into the game, and once they did, the writing began to appear on the wall.

Camperdown paid for their wastefulness after Reid received a through pass from a counter-attack and easily beat Prince-Daniel Smith in goal to give the host the early lead. Camperdown immediately went for the equaliser and again, their attackers failed to convert from easy opportunities. Hydel would make them pay when Reid grabbed his second of the game to add more misery to Camperdown.

After the second goal, Camperdown seemed to have lost their way and would give up another soft goal when Cameron headed home wide of the diving Smith to end the first half on a high for his team.

On the resumption, Hydel continued from where they left off as Reid grabbed his third and fourth for his team when he fired home from point blank range, leaving Smith motionless in the Camperdown goal.

McKay came to the party when he fired home easily to put the game beyond Camperdown and safely in the hands of Hydel.

Camperdown then pulled two goals back for consolation. Roberts fired over the head of Davis and Bradford converted from the penalty spot even though Smith dived the correct way.
