As the battle gets closer to the crunch, Sunshine Cereals has once again expressed satisfaction with its decision to sponsor Netball Jamaica's Intermediate County League. The competition enters its quarter-final stage this afternoon with matches at the Leila Robinson Courts in Kingston, and Keisha Prince, brand manager, Sunshine Cereals Jamaica, Confectionery and Snacks Jamaica Limited, noted the role it plays in developing talent for the sport.

“Sunshine Cereals is elated to be the title sponsor for Netball Jamaica's Intermediate County League for the third consecutive year,” said Prince.

“Sunshine Cereals strongly believes in and supports this venture that showcases and develops talents that can transition to the next level and can represent our country internationally,” she added.

The league is an expansion of the parish league, from which the leading teams were grouped in counties for the first time to compete across the national front.

Prior to this, only in the Corporate Area and St Catherine, Clarendon and St James, mainly, was the sport packaged in a way to facilitate high-level competition and besides unearthing and exposing talent in the other parishes, the league was concocted to provided consistently strong standards for all players.

Prince highlighted the move.

“We are pleased that Netball Jamaica has taken the bold step to take this league across the island and are happy to partner with them to achieve their overall goals and objectives,” she said.

In today's games, there are three Intermediate clashes set to begin at 6:00 pm. Corporate Area units from the Gaynstead High and Excelsior High family, Global 'A' will face Excelsior Eagles, respectively, meet in Surrey action and St Catherine's Friendship will take on Manchester's Jetters in Middlesex competition.

Meanwhile, there will also be action in the Supreme Ventures Major League, with four matches in the Surrey and Middlesex regional showdown. In Middlesex action, Clarendon's Jamalco will face G.C. Foster 'A' and Manchester's Titals will go up against GC Foster 'B'.

Surrey's matches feature all Corporate Area teams, with Molynes 'A' and Corporate Area champions UTech 'A' squaring off and Corporate Area runners-up, UWI, set to face Arnett 'A'.
