NHT A hunt another sweep of netball titles against Scotiabank

Saturday, October 26, 2019

A nother interesting battle is expected between defending champions National Housing Trust (NHT) A and many-time champions Scotiabank in the 2019 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Senior A League final inside National Indoor Sports Centre, starting at 7:30 pm today.

NHT A will be attempting another clean sweep of titles similar to what they achieved last year. They have already captured the Opening Rally and Open League titles, beating Scotiabank in both finals.

Scotiabank, who are many-time triple winners, will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last year's final when they were defeated by NHT for the Senior A League title. NHT A had a close 40-38 win against Scotiabank when they last met in the preliminary round.

Christopher Smart, coach of NHT A, said he expects a good game from Scotiabank.

“Despite aiming to repeat as triple champions the match can go either way, as Scotiabank is not only a former champion but is always a very good team and an experienced team,” Smart said.

He added that once his players execute well with their passes, they should be able to come out winners.

Meanwhile, Winston Nevers, coach of Scotiabank, said it's going to be a very tough match between both teams.

“We are still awaiting whether our leading goal shooter, Marsha Murphy-Dawkins, will be able to play in the final after sustaining a knee injury during the play-off match with Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) last Tuesday,” Nevers said.

The big clash could develop into a shooting duel between goal shooter Thristina Harwood from NHT A, and goal shooter Marsha Murphy-Dawkins from Scotiabank — their team's leading scorers throughout the competition.

However, they need the assistance of their goal attacks — Jodi-Ann Ffrench-Kentish from NHT A, and Tennisha Bernard from Scotia — to help put points on the board.

Meanwhile, the Senior B League final will be played between National Housing Trust (NHT) B and Jamaica National (JN) Group, beginning at 6:00 pm.

Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) A will meet Jamaica Public Service (JPS) in the final of the Intermediate A League, beginning at 4:30 pm.

LASCO Group and Guardsman Group will contest the Intermediate B League final, starting at 3:10 pm.

Stewart's Automotive will engage JCA B in the Junior League final to start at 2:00 pm.
