BASSETERRE, St Kitts (CMC) — Wretched St Lucia Stars earned their first points of the 2017 Caribbean Premier League campaign after rain washed out their contest against in-form St Kitts and Nevis Patriots here Saturday night.

Only 49 deliveries were possible at Warner Park as Stars, sent in, crawled to 46 for one before heavy rains arrived for the second-straight game at the venue to force the abandonment.

Stars, who had lost their six previous games, lie bottom of the six-team standings with a single point, while Patriots moved to nine to continue in second spot behind leaders Trinbago Knight Riders on 12.

In the limited play possible, Johnson Charles perished for five with the score on 27 in the fifth over, holing out in the deep off pacer Fabian Allen.

Andre Fletcher, however, kept the innings ticking over in an unbeaten 27 that came from 28 balls and included four boundaries.

He was partnered by their newly installed captain, Australian Shane Watson on 12 not out, when the game ended abruptly.
