Olympic Gardens FC ended the unbeaten run of defending champions Waterhouse FC with a 6-2 win in their Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)/Lascelles Employees and Partners Co-Operative Credit Union Women's Premier League Zone A clash at Cling Cling Oval recently.

Despite the loss, Waterhouse remain atop the pile on 22 points from nine games, two ahead of second-placed Olympic Gardens, who are on 20 points with two games in hand. Both teams played out a 1-1 stalemate in their first-round meeting.

National representative Kevena Reid (14th, 61st, 90+4 minutes), secured a hat-trick for Olympic Gardens to take her tally to 13 for the season. Monique Pryce (22nd), Ashley Sawyers (54th) and Stephanie Morgan (76th), got the other goals for the Adrian Kitson-coached Olympic Gardens.

Shantel Bailey (3rd) and Davia Richards (35th) got the goals for the losing side.

The match was always expected to be an intriguing one and it did not disappoint as both teams immediately got into their stride from the off.

Waterhouse grabbed the ascendancy when Bailey slammed one past Tashell Welcome in goal for Olympic Gardens, but Reid pulled Olympic level 11-minutes later from a counter- attacking play.

Olympic Gardens got their noses in front courtesy of a well-taken goal by Pryce. However, the ding-dong battle continued as Richards slotted home from close range to make it 2-2 at the break.

From there it was anybody's guess where the points would go, and while Wtaehouse were favoured to come up trumps, it was Olympic Gardens who asserted their authority on the resumption.

Sawyers gave Olympic Gardens the lead nine minutes in with a comfortable finish past the advancing Tiana Schroeter in goal for Waterhouse.

Reid grabbed her second a minute past the hour-mark with a powerful left-footed effort along the ground that eluded the diving Schroeter. And the nippy striker later capitalised on a defensive error to complete the three-timer and her team's win.

Meanwhile, Arnett Gardens registered a comfortable 4-0 win over Frazsiers Whip in their Zone B fixture at the Owen Palmer Community Centre playfield. With the win, Arnett Gardens moved to 23 points from nine games, one point behind leaders Cavalier FC, on 24, also from nine games.
