Portmore Magics beat Aqua Youths 84-66 in SDF basketball league

PORTMORE Magics defeated Aqua Youths 84-66 in the Sports Development Foundation (SDF)/McCatty community basketball league at Majesty Gardens courts last Sunday.Javardo Simmonds had a game-high 35 points to lead the Magics to victory, with support from Radhay Broomfield who had 14 points and 17 rebounds, and Marcomiche Downer with 10 points and 20 rebounds.

The principal scorers for the Youths were Akeen Bell (20 points), Eaton Smith (15 points) and Colin Wright with 13 points.

Last year's beaten finalists Pembroke Hall Warriors beat Majesty Legends 77-61, with Anthony Farquharson grabbing 21 points and 13 rebounds. Michael Jackson had 15 points.

Majesty Legends' main scorers were Deveraux Preston with 15 points, and Romario Rodney, who had 11 points along with 10 rebounds.

GC Foster Lions defeated Harbour View Supernovas 80-59 at the basketball court of GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport. The leading scorers for the winners were Michael Johnson (18 points) and Jermaine McKenzie (13 points). Kirk Saw (15 points) and Gary Reid, who got 14 points and 19 rebounds, led the losers.

Jamaica Defence Force beat Rae Town Raptors 60-46, while Real Lions held off August Town Mustangs 52-40 at August Town Community Court on Saturday.
