Former champions Reno FC halted a six-game winless streak after coming from behind yesterday to stun hosts Tivoli Gardens FC 2-1, in the Red Stripe Premier League match at Edward Seaga Sports Complex.

Andre Moulton gave Tivoli a 16th-minute lead as they had their way in the first-half exchanges, but the game was turned on its head inside the last quarter of an hour when Lynval Wilson and Afiba Chanbers struck in the 78th and 81st minutes, respectively.

Victory lifts Reno to 28 points and provisional seventh place, while Tivoli stay on 37 points but could fall to fourth depending on yesterday's outcome of the late-afternoon clash between Cavalier SC and visiting Portmore United.

In a first half controlled by Tivoli Gardens, the opening goal came as no surprise when Nicholas Smith's cross to Marvin Stewart was nodded down to leave Moulton with the easiest of tap-ins.

At the other end, Reno relied on speculative efforts and the industry of St Elizabeth Technical schoolboy Demar James.

But just before the half-time break Wilson's back post header forced Tivoli goalkeeper Davin Watkins to make a routine save.

The second half's first real warning of how brittle the home team's lead was came about the hour mark.

And James was the mastermind, turning sharply by his marker and crossing into the six-yard area where the Tivoli defence just managed to clear its line.

To the chagrin of the Tivoli coaching staff and fans, the players appeared oblivious to the danger, and Wilson soon ghosted in at the far post to meet Jashane Foster's free kick with a header past Watkins.

As Tivoli Gardens stretched themselves thin in a quest to retake the lead, they were left bare by a pearl of a counter- attack from Reno. James was the instigator, skipping by Tivoli's Shavar Campbell and feeding the ball down the right flank to free Michael McLeod, who played a centre pass for Chambers to direct into the goal.

Stung by the smash and grab ploy, Tivoli sprung forward in numbers, but fluffed their lines when it mattered most.
