GREEN ISLAND, Hanover — Defending champions Rusea's High and two former champions Cornwall College and Garvey Maceo High continued their winning run in the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition after scoring their sixth-straight win yesterday as the return round got under way.

Rusea's High worked hard for a 2-0 win over Green Island High in Zone B, ending their three-game win streak; Cornwall edged Green Pond High 2-1 in Zone A, while Garvey Maceo beat Denbigh High 3-0 in Zone M.

Meanwhile, 11 other teams led by former champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and Dinthill Technical as well as Manchester High and Charlemont all extended their unbeaten runs.

The game at Green Island got under way about 45 minutes late due to heavy afternoon rains and the late arrival of the officials, but goals from Lenroy Anderson in the first half and Bobby Brown in the second half took Rusea's High to a 2-0 win.

The win snapped Green Island's three-game winning run since they lost to Rusea's High in the opening game and Anderson's eighth-minute goal also snapped their run of 292 minutes since they had conceded a goal, also against Rusea's High, in their 0-4 first-round loss.

Rusea's High's striker Kenroy Campbell was rushed to the Lucea Hospital after he collapsed when he was hit in the head by the ball after he was substituted with about five minutes to go.

In Montego Bay, Aiden Jokomba and Salano Birch scored for Cornwall College in the second half as they held off Green Pond High for their seventh straight-win over the Gregory Daley-coached team.

Cornwall College had won the first-round game 2-0.

Tyreke Henry scored twice but missed a penalty and Anjay Gayle scored the other as Garvey Maceo cruised by Denbigh High 3-0 in their game, the same score they had in the first round.

STETHS ran by Newell High 3-0 with two goals from Ronaldo Webster, taking his tally to nine on the season and one from Jalani Green as they repeated their first-round scoreline.

Dinthill Technical were 2-0 winners over McGrath High with goals from Romario Robinson and Winston Brown, as Charlemont High stayed tied on 16 points with a 4-0 win over Bog Walk High.

Manchester High had a comfortable 5-0 win over second-placed B B Coke to widen their lead in Zone F, while there were also wins for Brown's Town High, St Mary Technical, Port Antonio High, Central High, Paul Bogle High and Seaforth.

Meanwhile, Herbert Morrison Technical moved into joint leadership of Zone C after winning their fourth straight, beating Spot Valley High 3-1, to avenge their first-round 0-1 loss.

Herbert Morrison are on 12 points, like Cedric Titus, who will play Muschett High today.
