She's A Maneater bows into competitive action as a four-year-old to face a tough challenge from a compact three-year-old-and-upward field for the Legal Light Trophy (Gr1) feature of a 10-race card at Caymanas Park today.

The Legal Light trophy has attracted a competitive field of six runners going 1,820 metres for a purse of $1,300,000 and the Super filly of 2016 and 2017 will renew rivalry with old foes in Bigdaddykool, Will In Charge and Houdini's Magic. Both She's A Maneater and Bigdaddykool will be saddled with top weight of 57.0kg.

She's A Maneater, stablemate Perfect Neighbour and Marvellous Marva trained by Philip Feanny will complete the fit-looking field of runners. In the field of six, only five-year-old industrious mare, Marvellous Marva has not yet acquired A Class status.

The Legal Light is the penultimate event on the card and is scheduled to go to post at approximately 4:50 pm with the first post at noon.

This looks a baptism for the reigning Horse-Of-The-Year filly. However, the Wayne DaCosta-trained filly will return from a 145-day respite from her arduous efforts of last season in almost immaculate racing trim.

From her exercise gallops, the filly looks well refreshed and is prepared to mount a competitive challenge.

Quite noticeable though is that her main rival Bigdaddykool, who has profiled as an out-and-out stayer with class, has himself been working very well during his uptempo drills over sprint distances in his preparation for this, and any missed step from one of his current opponents could see the five-year-old bay gelded son of Sorrentino digging in where it matters most to waltz away with a major slice of the bacon.

When She's A Maneater and Bigdaddykool last met in the Diamond Mile event last December, the filly won by all of 6 lengths going away. That was a masterclass performance.

And should she return in a similar mood, then the result will begin a new chapter in her continuing development. Bearing in mind that this is a likely possibility, leading trainer Anthony Nunes is seeming to put contingency measures in place as he has dispensed with the cheek pieces in preference for blinkers on Bigdaddykool. This is an attempt no doubt to add sharpness to his charge.

While all eyes will be focused on the top-weighted She's A Maneater and Bigdaddykool, the lightly weighted Houdini's Magic and Perfect Neighbour are no chicken over the distance and being handily placed at the weights a thrilling event could develop back to the finish line.

Will In Charge and Marvellous Marva are good finishers, and with the distance not a problem, could sneakily be hoping for a miracle to pounce as they too will enjoy the trip.
