St John's take lead at INSPORTS Central Primary Champs

ST JOHN'S Primary have taken the lead after 12 finals with 74 points combined at the 2019 Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) Central Region Primary Schools' Track and Field Championships Zone Two, at the end of the second of three days at G C Foster College yesterday.

Spanish Town are in second place on 69 points, followed by St Catherine on 67. Angels are on 63, Jericho on 34, Exchange All-Age on 32, Polly Ground with 26, Ewarton on 22, Mineral Heights on 18 and Ocho Rios on 17 points to round out the top 10 schools.

Angels Primary with 41 points lead the girls' section, followed by St Catherine on 39, St John's with 36, Spanish Town on 35 and Jericho on 26 points.

St John's with 38 points lead the boys' section, followed by Spanish Town on 34, St Catherine on 28, Angels with 22 and Exchange on 19 points.

Zaneek Jackson from Golden Grove won the girls' long jump open with 4.27 metres ahead of the St John's pair of Hasani Dunn (4.21m) and Shakaria Boothe (4.10m).

Javon Simpson won the boys' cricket ball throw with a distance of 53.87 metres from Savier Johnson from St John's (47.92m) and Rushawn Humes from Old Harbour (47.66m).

Monique Reid captured the girls' cricket ball throw open with 45.01 metres ahead of Toniann Chambers from St John's (39.26m) and Tashina Smith from Spanish Town with 36.40 metres.

The Class One boys' 4x100m relay was won by St John's in a time of 52.62 seconds ahead of Old Harbour (53.05) and Polly Ground (53.12).

Spanish Town won the Class Two boys' 4x100m relay in 54.20 seconds ahead of St Catherine (54.80) and St John's (55.54).

Ewarton won the Class Three boys' 4x100m relay in 54.94 seconds ahead of Spanish Town (55.32) and St Catherine (55.52).

The Class Four boys' 4x100m relay was won by Exchange in 1:01.39 ahead of Angels (1:1.64) and Spanish Town (1:03.17).

Spanish Town won the Class One girls' 4x100m relay in 52.70 seconds ahead of Frankfield (54.41) and Jericho (55.31).

St Catherine captured the Class Two girls' 4x100m relay in 56.08 seconds ahead of Angels (56.48) and Exchange (57.73).

The Class Three girls' sprint relay was won by St Catherine in a time of 58.13 seconds ahead of Angels (58.11) and Spanish Town (58.61).

Jericho won the Class Four girls' equivalent in 1:03.05 from Angels (1:04.05) and Marlie Mount (1:05.54).

The Championships end today with 28 finals.
