St Simon could get into Hanover FA Major League semi-final contention

LUCEA, Hanover — Promoted St Simon cou ld move up into semi-final contention in the Hanover Football Association Island Lux Beach Park/Negril and MP Ian Hayles Western Hanover/CDF Hanover FA Major League, when they take on Claremont United in their cross-zone game at Watson Taylor Park in Lucea today.

St Simon FC are in sixth place on 11 points but two points from the fourth spot, and a win today would see then jump past two teams and into a positing where they could go after a pace in the semi-finals.

Claremont United are a spot below St Simon on the points table and will be hoping to avoid relegation.

Mid-season champions and leaders Super Star YC have all but secured a place in the semi-finals as they are on 20 points from nine games, six points ahead of Johnson Town FC and Mt Pelier DC, with Lucea FC in fourth place on 13 points.

Johnson Town and Super Star YC scored good wins on Wednesday, beating Logwood United and Sandy Bay United, respectively.

Shamir Smith scored a hat-trick to lead Johnson Town to a 6-2 win over Logwood United at Watson Taylor Park, while Super Star YC came from a goal down to beat Sandy Bay 3-1 at Bethel Primary.

At Watson Taylor Park, Roy Walker gave Johnson Town the lead in the 12th minute before Smith exploded for his triple, scoring in the 22nd, 26th and 36th minutes as they led 4-0 at half-time.

Obrien Green then pulled one back for Logwood United in the 62nd minute before Ricardo Allen in the 67th minute and Devon McIntosh in the 68th minute pushed Johnson Town to a 6-1 lead.

Rohan Thompson then scored a second goal for Logwood United in the 70th minute.

Robert Clarke gave Sandy Bay United the lead in the 18th minute but Kemario Monroe levelled for Super Star YC in the 25th minute before Shaquille Brown gave them the lead in the 38th minute. Roydel Moncrieffe then added a third in the 70th minute to secure the points.
