Vernon McIntosh and Derrick Gordon, who comprised Team Friends, are on cloud nine following their win in the sixth regional round of the Nutramix Double Six Domino Tournament.

Both pig farmers from Smithfield in Westmoreland, the duo has promised to take home the title at the grand finals next month in Ocho Rios.

“I'm really happy because last year I entered and I didn't reach far in the competition. This time around I sharpened my skills and victory was what I had my mind on,” McIntosh explained.

A domino player for the past 18 years, McIntosh said he entered the competition just for the fun.

“Domino is a thing I love from long time. I just entered for the fun of it,” he said.

Gordon was just as excited about winning.

“It's a blessing and I really couldn't ask for anything else,” Gordon shared.

The sixth regional round took place on Saturday, August 12 at the Mannings School in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.

The atmosphere was a competitive one, as players squared off to win cash and Nutramix feed, among other prizes. Team Confucius, which comprised Nicholas Brown and Hussain Weller, finished in second place.

Team Friends won a cash prize of $50,000, 100 baby chicks and 20 bags of animal feed courtesy of Nutramix, while Team Confucius won 50 baby chicks and 10 bags of animal feed.

The seventh regional round in the Nutramix Double Six Domino Tournament was scheduled to take place last Saturday, August 19 at St Mary High in Highgate, St Mary.
