Central Titans spinner Stephan Casey captured 11 wickets in the match to power his team to an easy nine-wicket victory over Eastern Tigers in the seventh-round Jamaica Cricket Association two-day Super League contest at Chedwin Park.

Casey, who took six wickets in the Tigers' first innings, yesterday claimed 5-34 in their second-innings score of 101 all out to end with match figures of 11-68.

Needing only 32 runs for victory, the Titans sped to 33-1.

Scores: Tigers 144 (47 overs) & 101 (36.4 overs); Titans 214 (64.2 overs) & 33-1 (10.4 overs)

Resuming yesterday from their overnight score of 156-6, the Titans went on to make 214, a significant first-innings lead of 70 runs. Number four batsman Peat Salmon, who was on 59 overnight, carried on to 88 before he was dismissed. Tigers' spinner Patrick Harty grabbed 5-61.

Batting a second time, the visitors were struck down for 101. Jevaughn Buchanan, who made 54 in the first innings, was again the top scorer with 33. Aaron Johnson and Horace Miller contributed 28 and 25, respectively. Salmon, bowling off-spin, supported Casey with 2-17.

The Titans, though losing opener Tino Osbourne for zero, made light work of the small target. Number three batsman Albert Gopie and Oraine Williams ended unbeaten on 19 and 12, respectively.

At The University of the West Indies, Mona campus, Combined Universities and Colleges held on for first-innings honours in the drawn encounter versus Western Warriors.

In the first innings, the university team secured a slim advantage after making 133 and then dismissing the Warriors for 128.

With only a five-run advantage, the CUC second innings show was hardly better, and they were bundled out for 153.

Defending 158, the CUC were saved by close of play as the Warriors reached 101-2.

Scores: Combined Universities 133 (44 overs) & 153 (45.5 overs); Warriors 128 (48 overs) & 101-2 (38 overs)

At Noranda Bauxite Sports Complex in St Ann, Southern Seals beat hosts Northern Panthers by seven wickets in a low-scoring match.

Scores: Panthers 97 (47.5 overs) & 143 (68.5 overs); Seals 144 (43.1 overs) & 97-3 (13.2 overs)
