Waterhouse FC salvaged a point with a goal in the second minute of stoppage time against Reno FC at Drewsland Stadium on Sunday to preserve their unbeaten start to the 2017-18 Red Stripe Premier League season.

It was a game dominated by Waterhouse for the most part, however, the visitors FC Reno broke the deadlock through forward Craig Foster in minute 66. The ball was bundled over the line by Foster following a goal-mouth tangle which developed from a right-sided free-kick. Second-half substitute Rodico Wellington scored late from the penalty spot to earn a draw for the home side

Before Reno had scored, Waterhouse had a number of tries on the visitors' goal in the first half , but they all went wide of the mark or over the crossbar.

It was the second such 1-1 result Waterhouse have brokered in as many games. It has enabled them to make a much better start to this campaign than they did last season, and this made Head Coach Glendon “Admiral” Bailey pleased with his team's effort.

“Winning is paramount for every coach when he puts his team on a football field or in any other competitive situation. But two draws for us is not bad as it stands. This is a step-up from last season when we lost our two opening games.

“It is a young team that we are fielding at present and this will take time before they catch the pace of the league, which means it will take some time to click the right way we want to click. I said earlier that the more games we play we will see improvement and get much better,” Bailey said.

His Reno counterpart Michael Graham said: “A point on the road is always better than a loss, but nevertheless we always play all our games to win. We have only ourselves to blame for not taking full points as in the first half we were organised, but after we scored the one goal the organisation disappeared and we came under a lot pressure. We just have to go back to the training field tomorrow and plan to make amends for our home game against Humble Lion,”Graham explained.
